Johor Port Positions Pasir Gudang Port

Limit as The LNG Bunkering Port

Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, started its Marine Services for the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operations in Malaysia.

The LNG bunkering operations took place within Pasir Gudang Port Limit at the Johor Port anchorage area where the Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) bunker vessel MV Avenir Advantage supplied the LNG to vessel Siem Aristotle. This collaboration with Petronas marks the first time where LNG fuel was supplied through the LNG bunker vessel in Malaysia and Johor Port provided the critical Marine Services such as Pilotage services and Tugboats to ensure the success of this first bunkering operation.

“The location that was chosen by the parties is ideal for them as it required minimal deviation from their schedule. This positive feedback further validates the strategic location of the Pasir Gudang Port Limit for the LNG bunkering hub. The Pasir Gudang Port Limit is pivotally positioned to cater for both East and West bound vessels,” said Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port.

“As the base station for the LNG bunkering operations, Johor Port is committed to provide an efficient Marine Services for the operation. We are capable of providing Marine Services for LNG bunkering operation to international and domestic vessels passing through the Pasir Gudang Port Limit,” he added.

Johor Port will continue to support the growth of LNG business in Malaysia by providing an efficient operation support for the LNG bunkering operations. As the Southern Gateway Multi-Purpose Port, Johor Port currently provides a range of Marine Services for all types of vessels including Tug and Pilotage, Berthing and Unberthing, Shifting, Oil Rig Movement / Oil Rig Positioning & Repositioning, Dockwise Offload and Onload, Ship to Ship Transfer, Dead Ship Tow, Anchoring and Lay-Up as well as Docking and Undocking of Very Large Cruise Carriers.
