From 14 to 17 October 2020, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, participated in the virtual Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2020. The maiden state-led virtual platform event was organised by Invest Selangor Berhad, with the focus of creating a vibrant business platform for economic activities amid the COVID-19 pandemic, through digitalisation initiatives.
SIBS is an annual event initiated by the State Government of Selangor, to promote and facilitate international trade and provide the right platform for participating companies to expand their businesses into new markets. The four-day virtual summit, launched by Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar of Selangor, featured four sub-programmes that ran concurrently namely the Selangor International Expo, Selangor ASEAN Business Conference, Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention, and Selangor International Halal Conference.
During the virtual summit, several activities were organised, including webinars, live conferences, online networking, virtual expositions and business matching opportunities. Northport’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof was invited as a speaker at two online panel sessions with the topics of ‘Sailing Through the Storm, Logistics and Warehousing – Challenges and Opportunities’ and ‘Malaysia Halal Hub – Where Are We Now?’
Northport participation in SIBS 2020 is an attestation of the Company’s continuous commitment and support towards making the state of Selangor as the premier regional economic, industrial and business hub, while accommodating to the global trends and innovations, in line with the increasing digital transformation.
