With a commitment to aid the less fortunate by improving their living conditions, on 24 August 2021, Gas Malaysia Berhad (Gas Malaysia), a member of MMC Group, contributed essential household groceries to about 500 affected traders and hawkers at Pusat Penjaja Dataran Bukit Antarabangsa, Pantai Dalam. This initiative is an effort to lessen the burden of the impacted local traders and hawkers due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

This initiative is a collaboration between Gas Malaysia, Pusat Pungutan Zakat-Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (PPZ-MAIWP) and Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan. Present during the handover ceremony were Tuan Haji Abdul Hakim Amir Osman, Acting Chief Executive Officer of PPZ-MAIWP together with the Group Chief Executive Officer of Gas Malaysia, Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap.

The household grocery items distributed were 10 kilogrammes of rice, two kilogrammes of cooking oil, two kilogrammes of sugar, canned sardines, biscuits and noodles among others for each recipient.

This activity is a continuation of Gas Malaysia’s efforts to assist the underprivileged especially during the pandemic. Previously, Gas Malaysia has conducted similar initiatives such as donating household groceries to about 200 recipients under the B40 category living in Kota Kemuning and Petaling Jaya and contributing medical equipment to three hospitals to aid frontliners in treating COVID-19 patients.
