Senai International Airport Receives First International Flight from Ho Chi Minh City

Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport), a member of MMC Group, received the first international flight from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in conjunction with Malaysia’s international borders reopening effective on the same day.


The flight by AirAsia with call sign AK1491 arrived at Senai International Airport around 12.15 pm local time was witnessed by YB Datuk Seri Dr Santhara J.P, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Art and Culture Malaysia, Solehuddin Ahmad, Director of Tourism Malaysia Southern Region, Shuhairi Hashim, Director of Tourism Johor and representatives from Senai International Airport.


A welcoming ceremony by Senai International Airport, Tourism Johor, Tourism Malaysia and Legoland was held at Gate1 to welcome 58 passengers who were presented with goodie bags prior to immigration clearance.


Earlier, the first international flight departed from Senai International Airport to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam at 7.20 am with 82 passengers. This sector is scheduled twice weekly for every Monday and Friday. This will be followed by Jakarta and Surabaya, Indonesia whilst Bangkok, Thailand will resume in May and Incheon, South Korea in June.


“Senai International Airport has long been preparing for reopening of international borders to ensure that travelling experience through its airport is safe, secure, smooth and efficient for the comfort and confidence of air travellers,” said Kennedy Ayu, Chief Executive Officer of Senai International Airport.
