In the spirit of Ramadan and Syawal, MMC Group has carried out various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at providing support to the communities surrounding the business operations. Through MMC Prihatin Ramadan, a total of 2,400 food packages consists of rice, flour, sugar, spices, vermicelli and many more were distributed to the asnaf group.
In the Central region, 700 food packages were distributed to the eligible recipients by Gas Malaysia Berhad, MMC Engineering Sdn Bhd, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, Kontena Nasional Berhad and Aliran Ihsan Resources Berhad.
The operating companies in the Southern region namely Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd, Johor Port Berhad, Tanjung Bruas Port Sdn Bhd, Malakoff Corporation Berhad, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd, Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd and Seaport Worldwide Sdn Bhd distributed more than 1,200 food packages to those in need around the vicinity of their business operations specifically in Kulai, Senai, Gelang Patah, Pasir Gudang, Pontian, Pantai Kundor, Masai and Johor Bahru. In addition, Johor Port collaborated with Yayasan Pasir Gudang to contribute financial aid to underprivileged families as part of the company’s zakat contribution.
Up in the North, a total of 200 food packages were distributed to eligible recipients in Sebarang Jaya by Penang Port Sdn Bhd (Penang Port). Under Penang Port Sinar Ramadan programme, the company also took an initiative to help the needy and homeless by distributing food and provisions around Butterworth and George Town. The MMC Prihatin food packages were also delivered to 250 asnaf in the East Coast region through Graphite project and Kertih Airport’s team in Terengganu.
This annual CSR initiatives by MMC Group reflects the company’s commitment as a responsible corporate organisation. It is hoped that this gesture of kindness will help to cheer up the underprivileged in their spirit of celebrating Syawal.
