Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport), received a flight of Firefly from Penang with Boeing-737-800s aircraft for their resumption of Jet Operations.

Around 8:25 am, the flight with call sign FY2902 touched down at Senai International Airport and welcomed by Kennedy Ayu, Chief Executive Officer of Senai International Airport together with Muhammad Nasir Pahmi, Director of Tourism Malaysia Southern Region (TMSR), Subramaniam Kandasamy, Chairman of Malaysian Travel & Tour Association as well as representatives from Tourism Johor, Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) and Malaysian Chinese Tourism Association.

A humble yet delightful ceremony was held at Gate 3 to welcome 75 passengers on board. In commemoration of the event, they were gifted with mementos sponsored by Firefly, Tourism Johor, IRDA and TMSR upon disembarking the flight.

“We put strong emphasis on the efficiency of safety protocols and comfort of our travellers to ensure that they have a pleasant experience at our airport.  We will continue to work towards restoring the connectivity and actively promote the state of Johor as a preferred destination,” said Kennedy.

Firefly in a statement said that this Jet Operation resumption comes at an apt time as they celebrated the 15th anniversary this April. Earlier, the Boeing-737-800s had been suspended due to Movement Control Order in 2021. This flight which is based in Penang is scheduled to operate two times daily to Johor Bahru. Additionally, two new sectors were introduced simultaneously to Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
