Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), a member of MMC Group, has continued its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts to help the society and community in need by making zakat contributions to higher education institutions particularly to aid the group of needy students.
On 23 March 2022, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam received Malakoff’s zakat contribution of RM50,000.00 for their students’ educational growth. The contribution ceremony was handed over by Anwar Shahrin Abdul Ajib, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Malakoff to Professor Datuk Ts Dr Hajah Roziah Mohd Janor, Vice-Chancellor of UiTM. The event was also attended by Dr Mohd Ashrof Zaki Yaakob, Director of Zakat, Sedekah and Wakaf Department of UiTM.
Subsequently, on 1 April 2022, Malakoff also took an initiative to contribute its zakat fund worth RM20,000.00 to Universiti Malaya (UM) which was handed over by Aliyah Abdul Halim, Assistant Vice President of Malakoff’s Group Finance Division to Professor Dr Sabri Musa, Vice Chancellor of Student Welfare of UM and Professor Ir Dr Abdul Aziz Abdul Raman, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Business and Innovation of UM. The event was also attended by Professor Madya Dr Kamaruzaman Noordin, Assistant Director of Student Welfare cum Director of Zakat Department and Nur Muhaymin Mahayuddin, Head of Alumni Communication and Technology (CARIA).
As a company that prides itself in being community centric, Anwar Syahrin feels that Malakoff’s journey towards becoming a more sustainably conscious organisation bodes well with this (CSR) initiative as it shows our proactive approach in ensuring the well-being of our surrounding communities. Malakoff hopes that this small gesture will help ease the burden of students at both universities and cover their study need as they pursue their educational journey.
This initiative is part of Malakoff’s continuous CSR Community Programme in contributing to the socio-economic and educational growth of the nation.
