PTP and JPB Collaborate with Shipping Association Malaysia (SAM) – Johor Chapter On SOLAS - VGM

On 18 May 2016, Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) and Johor Port Berhad (JPB) collaborated with Shipping Association Malaysia (SAM) – Johor Chapter to discuss with the association members on the latest International Maritime Organisation (IMO) requirement for Safety of Life at Sea Convention - Verified Gross Mass (SOLAS – VGM) that is set to be implemented worldwide on 1 July 2016.   


SAM – Johor Chapter has successfully gathered more than 20 representatives from shipping lines to attend the discussion session held at Wisma A PTP, such as Maersk Line, CMA – CGM, Evergreen Marine Corp, MSC, MCC Transport, QEL, KMTC, HMM, Hapag Llyod, UASC, Ben Line, Intra Asia and Wan Hai.


During the session, PTP and JPB representatives shared the latest process flow and other requirements set forth by the IMO, followed with a Q & A session with the participants on the new ruling and other general enquiries on business matters.


The event, which was part of PTP and JPB’s joint engagement activity with the stakeholders, received positive feedbacks from the participants.
