Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, a Member of MMC Group conducted a fire evacuation and fire extinguishing exercise at Sekolah Kebangsaan Pelabuhan Utara as part of the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The programme which involved Northport’s Fire & Rescue Team, Port Auxiliary Police and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) personnel was participated by 59 teachers and 589 students of the school.


The main objective of the programme wasto educate the teachers and students on evacuation procedures and safety steps during a fire. Teachers were also trained with proper fire extinguishing techniques. Northport’s fire engine, an ambulance and a police patrol car were deployed to the school for the exercise.


Tuan Haji Mohd Radzai Mohd Salleh, Northport’s Head of Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Division and En. Abdul Rais Mohd Nawawi, Headmaster of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pelabuhan Utara were present throughout the fire drill exercise. The programme was part of Northport’s CSR initiatives to demonstrate its role as a responsible corporate citizen in promoting safety awareness among the local community.
