Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a Member of MMC Group held its Safety Day event to promote safe and healthy working environment. The event, held at PUB Building saw more than 400 participants consisting of employees and contractors.  


Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Chairman of PTP launched the event in the presence of Uday Sudhakar Deshpande, Head of HSSE, Asia Pacific and India Region, APMT, I.R Ahmad Jailani Bin Mansor, Deputy Director of Department of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia, Johor (DOSCH), Ian James, Group Chief Executive Officer of MMC Port Holdings Sdn Bhd, Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP and other MMC and PTP management team.


With “24/7 Safe” as the theme for this year’s campaign, the event emphasised on the importance of safety around the terminal area and the situational hazard that can occur during night shift due to visibility limitation and fatigue. The campaign served as a reminder that everyone is responsible for the safety performance at their workplace to ensure that they will return safe to their loved ones every day.


Various activities were also organised throughout the event to promote safety awareness such as Safety Talk, Safety Corner Competition, Safety Fun Run Activity, 3R Campaign, SOCSO Awareness Talk, Women Cancer Awareness Day, free health check and many more. During the launch, a prize giving ceremony was also held to acknowledge PTP’s employees and contractors who have showcased outstanding and exemplary performance in safety throughout 2016.  


This year, PTP is set to embark on a safety culture transformation journey with more comprehensive and engaging framework implemented by the Company involving three major phases; Transformation, Effective Implementation and Sustainability & Continuous Improvement phase. The transformation journey was taken as part of PTP’s continuous effort and commitment towards providing strong visible assurance, leadership and personal participation in building and sustaining a safe working environment and a safety culture for the PTP community.
