Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, a Member of MMC Group organised a Safety Day programme in conjunction with the 2017 World Day for Safety and Health at Work; an annual international campaign held on 28 April to promote safe, healthy and decent working environment.


Northport Safety Day 2017 programme was launched by YBhg. Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport joined by Captain K. Subramaniam, General Manager of Port Klang Authority, Tn. Hj. Zainal Ismail, Director of Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) Selangor, Pn. Aziah Daud, Deputy Director, Enforcement Division of the National Anti-Drug Agency Selangor, En. Ahmad Yani Bin Mohamad, Section Head of Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Selangor and Dr. Shivanesh Sivalingam of Port Klang Public Health Specialist Centre.


More than 200 Northport employees, contractors, service providers and other port users attended the event. Six (6) Northport employees were awarded with the Best Safety Performer Awards during the event in appreciation of their contribution to safety and health throughout the first quarter of 2017.


Various activities were organised throughout the programme including exhibition booths by the District Health Office Klang, PERKESO, National Anti-Drug Agency Selangor, BOMBA Selangor and KPJ Hospital Klang. The half-day programme concluded with a lecture on safety by TV3 personality, Ustaz Lufti Razali, entitled “Work Safety from Islamic Perspective”.


The World Day for Safety and Health at Work was organised to embrace safety and healthy working environment at all levels. It has been observed by the International Labour Organization (ILO) since 2003.
