PTP Promotes Proactive and Continuous

Improvement Practice during the Celebration of Global Safety Day 2019

Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, held its annual Safety Day programme, aimed at empowering safety and health culture that can help to reduce the number of work-related incidents in the work place.

Officiated by Mr Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP; the event was attended by more than 500 attendees consisting employees of PTP, contractors, government agencies and students.

With “Learning Team” as the theme for this year’s campaign, the event emphasised on the importance of proactive and continuous improvement practices in building strong safety culture as well as accepting full responsibility in identifying unsafe work conditions and practices. Various interesting activities were organised throughout the event such as Safety Talk, Fatal 5 and Safety exhibition, Ergonomic Awareness Program, Cancer Awareness Talk, free health and dental check-up and many more. A special tree planting session was also held to promote environment sustainability in PTP.   

Different from the previous celebrations, PTP also invited 40 secondary school students to participate in the Safety Day programme this year. The programme also provided an opportunity for the students to participate in safety-based activities that they can learn and apply in their daily life. Various activities were also organised especially for the students such as PTP Replica Items contest by using recycle materials, Hazard Hunt, Safety Pyramid, safety puzzles and quizzes as well as awareness talks.
