Penang Port Employees Spread

Kindness in Ramadan

During Ramadan, employees of Penang Port Sdn Bhd (Penang Port), a member of MMC Group, displayed their spirit of giving and sharing by donating to the ‘JOM SHARE’ campaign which ran throughout May.

The charity programme aimed at helping the underprivileged was held in collaboration with Mutiara Food Bank. The JOM SHARE campaign saw Penang Port employees contributing over 200 household items that included packs of rice, rice noodles, biscuits, laundry detergents, bottles of cooking oil, canned food, bottles of shower gel, tubes of toothpaste as well as bottles of dish washing liquid.

“This is the second consecutive year that Penang Port is working with Mutiara Food Bank. All contributions will be sorted and distributed to the underprivileged across north Malaysia. On behalf of Mutiara Food Bank and the underprivileged recipients, we are grateful and appreciative of Penang Port employees’ generosity”, said Muhammad Shameer Mohamed Sulaiman, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Mutiara Food Bank. Representing Penang Port at the handover ceremony were Captain Hafidzi Zakaria, Head of Container Business; Azdy Mohd Arshad, President of Penang Port Muslim Employees Association; and Joan Tan, Head of Corporate Communications.

“The programme has inculcated the spirit of volunteerism among Penang Port employees and at the same time encouraged interactions and friendship with the local communities”, Captain Hafidzi added.
