Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, started its COVID-19 Vaccination Programme at Dewan Taman Universiti, Skudai. This exercise was conducted under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme as part of the nation’s drive to vaccinate the economic frontliners of essential services under the Ministry of Transport.

For the first session, a total of 214 frontliners consisting of employees, customers and contractors received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. PTP’s senior management team members were also volunteered to be the first in line for vaccination in order to build vaccine confidence among PTP employees and port users.

Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP said that the vaccination programme will be rolled out in phases beginning April 2021. The second session is scheduled between 2 to 4 May 2021 involving approximately 700 employees and terminal frontliners.  Under the first phase of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, PTP is set to vaccinate 2,000 of its employees and port users. The subsequent phases will cover the rest of PTP employees with the objective of achieving complete vaccination in 2021.

The successful initiation of PTP’s COVID-19 Vaccination Programme is a result of the joint effort and collaboration between the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, taking into account PTP’s position as an essential service industry and a strategic asset of the nation.
