This year, more than 1,000 orphans, asnaf children and underprivileged families received Johor Port’s zakat contributions with the aim to ease their burden and at the same time spreading Hari Raya Aidilfitri cheer.

Eligible asnaf and underprivileged families from Kampung Pasir Gudang Baru, Kampung Pasir Putih, Taman Air Biru, Taman Plentong Baru and SK Kota Masai received zakat contributions which includes financial aid as well as food and cooking products.

Three orphanages namely Pertubuhan Kebajikan Fitrah Qaseh, Pusat Jagaan Kasih Setanggi, Rumah Anak Yatim Shafar and asnaf children from SK Kota Masai 2 also received zakat contributions which were presented by YB Tuan Haji Solihan Badri, the Johor State Executive Chairman of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transportation accompanied by Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port.

Johor Port also collaborated with Gerakan Belia 4B (M) Taman Cendana Utama Branch, a non-governmental organisation registered with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia to help asnaf children from Taman Cendana, Plentong, Seri Alam and Taman Rinting with their Syawal preparations.

Previously, Johor Port took the opportunity to embrace the spirit of sharing during Ramadan by organising the annual Bubur Lambuk Programme. During the event, seven jumbo pots were used to prepare the scrumptious traditional dish with the help of 30 employees from various divisions and departments. A total of 2,000 packs of bubur lambuk were successfully distributed to three local mosques in Pasir Gudang, hauliers and port’s users.

Over the years Johor Port has been actively involved in various Corporate Social Responsibility programmes within the sphere of education, community development and expanding its philanthropic activities to the local and neighbouring communities. Johor Port looks forward to sharing the company’s success by giving back to those in need within its operations area.
