Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group organised a webinar on Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption. This session was conducted by Integrity, Governance and Compliance Unit of the PTP’s Legal and Company Secretarial Department in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
With the topic of ‘Corruption Offences Under the MACC Act 2009 and its Effects’, the webinar focused on individual liability and corporate liability under the MACC Act. More than 100 business associates participated in the webinar, including vendors, suppliers, tenants, and contractors.
Senior Superintendent (SSupt) Lee Cheng Teik from the Community Education Division, MACC Putrajaya, was invited to speak at the webinar. Among others, SSupt Lee highlighted the importance of having adequate procedures to minimise the occurrence of corrupt practices relating to business activities, thereby safeguarding these businesses against unwanted issues. SSupt Lee also briefly explained the consequences to individuals or companies if they commit any offences.
The webinar was part of PTP continuous stakeholder engagement initiatives to increase awareness of bribery and corruption among its business associates. It also provides an avenue for business associates to better understand the laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to bribery and corruption from the third party perspective.
