MMC’s ports participated in Malaysia Maritime Week 2022 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in conjunction with the celebration of World Maritime Day by the International Maritime Organisation.

This event was hosted by Malaysian Shipowners’ Association, supported by the Ministry of Transport, Marine Department Malaysia and the Association of Malaysia’s Maritime Professionals (also known as Ikhtisas Kelautan Malaysia or IKMAL). The World Maritime Week delivered insightful updates and cutting-edge technologies from across the local and international maritime industry.

YB Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong, Minister of Transport was present to officiate the prestigious gathering. The four-day programme also featured 38 exhibitors from the maritime fraternity in Malaysia and a conference session to discuss ideal strategies and mechanisms in addressing post-pandemic concerns and balance in maritime sustainability and development. The event also focuses on zero-carbon shipping and green transition in the maritime sector which is in line with the World Maritime Day 2022 theme, New Technologies for Greener Shipping.

MMC’s ports were represented by Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), Dato' Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport) as well as several other representatives from PTP, Northport, Johor Port Berhad and Penang Port Sdn Bhd.

The participation of MMC’s ports at Malaysia Maritime Week 2022 was part of the Group’s continuous effort to create brand awareness and on-going Group stakeholders’ engagement initiative to strengthen relationship between the Group and its relevant business partners including the customers and government entities.
