AIR Berhad Organises River Cleaning Programme at Sungai Selaru, Selangor

Aliran Ihsan Resources Berhad (AIR Berhad), a member of MMC Group, collaborated with Friends of River Malaysia, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) body and organised a River Justice Programme at Sungai Selaru, Serendah, Selangor as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility effort.  

The programme aimed at supporting the conservation and preservation of rivers in Malaysia.  A total of 20 volunteers helped to clean along 1 kilometre of Sungai Selaru riverbanks.

“Most of the rubbish collected were plastic products such as bottles, containers and food packaging. Keeping the river clean is a shared responsibility. Nature has provided us with an abundance of resources that we have in some ways collectively taken for granted. We have to explore all possible ways to keep our rivers clean,” said Nurul Shahirah, one of the volunteers.

The River Justice programme has successfully helped to promote healthy activities while motivating others to make a small change to their lifestyle in order to contribute to the big picture.
