Aliran Ihsan Resources Berhad (AIR Berhad), a member of MMC Group participated in the World Water Day celebrations held at Taman Awam Bera, Pahang. Carried the themed “Groundwater, Making the Invisible Visible”, the event was officiated by YAB Dato' Sri Ismail Sabri bin Yaakob, the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Also present at the event were Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, the Minister of Environment and Water, Datuk Seri Mohd. Sharkar Shamsuddin, Chairman of the State Tourism, Culture, Environment, Plantation and Commodities Committee and Datuk Seri Norolazali Sulaiman, Chairman of the State Public Works, Transport and Health Committee.

In his speech, the prime minister pointed out that “The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources through the Department of Minerals and Geosciences is actively implementing activities such as mapping, development, monitoring and Development of Data Centers and Groundwater Inventory.

The National Water Resources Policy which emphasised the need to protect the environment to preserve water resources will be reviewed taking into account the current situation and challenges faced by the national water sector in line with the Water Sector Transformation plan 2040 and other development plans under the 12th Malaysia Plan.”

AIR Berhad’s participation in such an event is part of its stakeholder engagement initiative to always keep up with any new development and policies related to its core business. It also lays a strong foundation to strengthen relationships with its various key stakeholders.

World Water Day is celebrated on March 22 every year to highlight the importance of water resources and raise awareness to tackle the international water crisis in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals: water and sanitation for all by 2030.
