Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, together with Johor Port Authority (JPA) contributed school essentials and disinfection items to 17 schools within Gelang Patah during the Back-to-School and COVID-19 Disinfection Programme 2022 handover ceremony held at PTP.
Due to COVID-19 and to prevent any risk of infection, only schools’ representatives were present to collect the school aid which was handed over by Muhammad Abdullah Hatta, Chief Financial Officer of PTP and Ahmad Salhin Mustapa, Assistant General Manager, Corporate Services and Development of JPA.
A total of 170 underprivileged students from 13 primary schools and four secondary schools within Gelang Patah received brand new school essentials such as school bags and other stationeries items. Implemented for more than 15 years, the Back-to-School Programme is part of PTP’s community-based Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes organised every year, aimed at alleviating the parents’ burden and helping them to prepare their kids for the new school academic year.
On the other hand, the 17 schools also received disinfection items such as hand sanitisers, disinfectant liquid, spray tanks, face masks and thermometers under the COVID-19 Disinfection Programme 2022. First introduced in 2021, the programme aimed at providing a clean and sanitised school environment for new and returning students.
Apart from the Back-to-School and COVID-19 Disinfection Programme 2022, PTP has various other initiatives in line with its CSR programmes including providing aid to the Gelang Patah community, environment awareness programmes and many others.
