In tandem with its pursuit to be a responsible business entity, on 12 April 2022, Gas Malaysia Berhad (Gas Malaysia), a member of MMC Group, organised a ‘Back To School’ programme to provide school necessities to about 150 underprivileged school children from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Puchong Perdana. This initiative was aimed to improve the living conditions of B40 school children, categorised as urban poor by providing them with  school uniforms, shoes, stationeries, hygiene kit among others for the 2022 academic year.

The handover ceremony was held at Gas Malaysia’s head office in Shah Alam. As a symbolic gesture, En. Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, Group Chief Executive Officer of Gas Malaysia, handed over the items to several school children witnessed by Pn. Maisarah bt Abdullah, Ketua Penolong Pengarah, Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah and En. Rangit Singh, Headmaster, SK Puchong Perdana.

“As a responsible corporate citizen, we have been doing our part to support the underprivileged community due to the rising cost of living. Our commitment in embedding corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices will continue to be prioritised. We believe, that in order for our business to be sustainable, it is important to balance our business ambitions with meaningful corporate social responsibility initiatives. In fact, education is one of Gas Malaysia’s CSR pillar. We hope with this contribution it will help ease the financial burden of the student’s parents as they face the 2022 academic year,” En. Ahmad Hashimi commented.
