MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC) organised a visit to YS Charity Foundation in Petaling Jaya, as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.
Most of the special residents are from underprivileged families and each one is diagnosed with various congenital conditions such as autism, ADHD, down syndrome, depression, physical disabilities and others. But this did not hinder MMC from spreading the festive cheer as the event saw an overwhelming participation from volunteers engaging with more than 50 residents.
The programme kicked off with a friendly welcoming session by the caretakers, followed by fun activities such as colouring session and bonfire dancing. During the visit, YS Charity Foundation was presented with grocery items to meet their daily needs, consisting rice, cooking oil, flour, sugar and festive cookies.
CSR programmes such as this are potential avenues to foster the spirit of volunteerism and unity in an inclusive and diverse Malaysia by celebrating festivities of different cultures. Such initiatives also provide opportunities for members of MMC Group to extend its community outreach and build meaningful relationships with local communities.
