Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a member of MMC Group, becomes the first port in Malaysia to welcome the latest and most advanced 80 tonnes tug boats into its port operations on 28 February 2019.

The welcoming ceremony for both tug boats - named Kejora PTP 81 and Kejora PTP 82 - was commemorated during a special event organised by PTP. Among the dignitaries present during the event were Dickson Anak Dolah, Director of Southern Region Marine Department; Ahmad Salhin Mustapa, Assistant General Manager of Johor Port Authority; Joe Schofield, Chief Operations Officer of PTP; several members of PTP senior management as well as senior officers from both Johor Port Authority and Marine Department.

Dedicated to handle ultra large vessels such as the Maersk Triple E latest generation container ships; the Kejora PTP 81 and Kejora PTP 82 are equipped with advanced, state of the art technology in marine industry. The tugs’ design emphasised on safety and efficiency with extra added stability from a wide beam and the relatively low position of the ergonomic wheelhouse. The highly manoeuvrable tug boats are also capable of 85 short-tonnes force of bollard pull. Kejora PTP 81 and Kejora PTP 82 tug boats are additions to the seven existing tug boats of different categories already in operation.

The investments made in the latest port and marine equipment will further enhance PTP’s operations to provide best in class service for its customers and establish its terminal as one of the best equipped and most technologically advanced terminal port in the region.
