Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a member of MMC Group, continued to bring cheers to underprivileged students in Iskandar Puteri area with brand new school essentials.


The Back To School programme was part of PTP’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and aimed at assisting students from low-income households during preparation for the new academic year, as well as bringing cheer to the students by providing them with brand new school gear such as stationeries, school bags, dictionary, colouring pencils and many others.


This year, a total of 270 underprivileged students from primary and secondary schools were identified    to receive the aid.


PTP’s Back To School presentation ceremony was officiated by YB Sr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Iskandar Puteri Assemblyman. Also present during the event were YB Mazlan Bujang, Puteri Wangsa Assemblyman, YB Senator Ir Md Nasir Hashim, Senate Parliamentary Member, Haji Shaharuddin Saari, Johor Bahru District Education Officer, Marco Neelsen, PTP Chief Executive Officer, PTP senior management team, school principals, teachers, parents and students.


PTP has been involved in the Back To School programme since 2007 and has benefitted 2,100 students thus far. PTP is also active in other CSR programmes such as English Tuition, English Boot Camp, English Communication Workshop, Motivational Talks for UPSR and SPM students as well as Career Insight Programme which involves local university students from various maritime studies such as the Maritime Management Studies, Nautical Science and Maritime Technology Applied Science.
