From 28 February to 2 March 2022, MMC’s ports participated in the 19th ASEAN Ports and Shipping 2022. The event was hosted by Port Klang Authority and has taken place at the Intercontinental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The ASEAN Ports and Shipping series held annually is the region’s biggest ports, shipping and transport logistics exhibition and conference event. It provides the participants with networking opportunities among the delegates and to share ideas and viewpoints on the issues related to the industry.
The three-day event, which was launched by YB Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong, Minister of Transport Malaysia, featured several programmes including conference, exhibition and technical site visit, where the participants were taken for a tour to Northport, Westports and Port Klang Free Zone. The visit was held to provide them with an insight of the Port Klang’s ports and logistics operations as well as the latest development at the 12th busiest port in the world. Approximately 450 delegations have participated in the conference and exhibition.
During the event, Gaurav Sharma, Chief Information Officer of MMC Port Holdings Sdn Bhd, presented an interesting topic on “MMC Port: Digital Transformation and Way Forward” while Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport, also delivered a presentation titled “Northport’s Journey Towards Becoming a Safer, Greener, Smarter and Better Port”.
At the same event Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP presented a topic on “ASEAN Ports: Evolution on Digitalisation and Transformation in Technology for a Competitive Edge”. Dato’ Sasedharan Vasudevan, Chief Executive Officer of Penang Port, has also presented on “Penang Port: The Northern Shipping and Transhipment Focal Point”.
The participation of MMC’s ports in the 19th ASEAN Ports and Shipping event demonstrated the Group’s commitment in addressing the global and regional issues concerning the port and shipping industry at a platform that gathered the international maritime players and decision makers.
