Penang Port Sdn Bhd (Penang Port), a member of MMC Group participated in the ALB Malaysia Law Awards 2022 organised by Thomson Reuters. The ALB Malaysia Law Awards 2022 paid tribute to the outstanding performance of private practitioners and in-house teams in Malaysia and around the region.

The ceremony was conducted virtually through MTeams and was joined by other companies such as Maybank, Malaysia Airport, Genting Malaysia, Lazada Malaysia and many more. Penang Port was honoured to be nominated based on the category ‘In House Lawyer of the Year; Muhammad Izzat bin Md Jonid’, Head of Legal and ‘Malaysia In-House Team of the Year’.

The Legal Department of Penang Port plays an integral role in advising the company on all legal matters and highlights the relevant business risks which may have legal implications for the operations and business.

“To take on new challenges and carry out our roles in advising the stakeholders and reviewing documents, we take a broader view of innovation by utilising the technologies and systems provided by Penang Port to ensure that the company does not breach any laws or contractual obligations,” said Muhammad Izzat Md Jonid.

Penang Port’s Legal Department are determined to support the company’s mission of becoming the premier port and logistics chain integrator in the region.
