Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a Member of MMC Group signed a Memorandum of Agreement with University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) for the development of maritime and logistics studies in maritime technology and port management.


The signing ceremony took place during the 2017 UMT Business Partners Appreciation Ceremony and Launching of Industry Centre of Excellence Cluster Maritime held at TH Hotel & Convention Centre, Terengganu.


PTP was represented by Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP whereas UMT was represented by Prof Dato’ Dr. Nor Aieni Binti Haji Mokhtar, Vice Chancellor of UMT. Also present during the signing ceremony were Prof. Dr. Noor Azizi Bin Ismail, Deputy Director General of Department of Higher Education Malaysia and Jaizal Kamar Jalaludin, Head of Human Capital Management of PTP.  


The strategic collaboration with institutions of higher learning is part of PTP’s initiatives towards enhancing the competency level and skills of its current and future employees. Apart from that, it is also to empower its valuable assets in the realisation of PTP’s aspiration to become the preferred port of choice in the region.


During the event, Mr Marco Neelsen was appointed as UMT’s Industry Expert (Malim Industri). Malim Industri was set up with the objective of enhancing knowledge sharing and expertise between the industry expert and academic institutions.
