Penang Port Wins Best of

Communications Applications Award

Penang Port Sdn Bhd (PPSB), a Member of MMC Group was presented with the ‘Best of Communication Applications’ award at the MSC Malaysia Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards 2017 ceremony held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The award was presented by Dato’ Yasmin Mahmood, Chief Executive Officer of MDec and Mr. Chin Chee Seong, Chairman of PIKOM to Mr. Zaini Mohd Hussain, Senior General Manager of Technical Services of PPSB.

PPSB’s solution employs innovative use of technology to enable robust and efficient exchange of information between the company’s TOS (Terminal Operating System) and the VMTs (Vehicle Mounted Terminals) deployed in the port operating environment. The solution enables optimization of container handling equipment, simplified and enhanced user experience for the operators whilst significantly reducing the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

The solution is expected to provide significant benefits to companies across many industries faced with wireless connectivity challenges such as weak signals (due to interference, blockage and roaming). It will enable a more robust, reliable and expanded wireless coverage, wider options and feature-rich devices, convergence of wireless platforms as well as simplifying IOT (Internet of Things) implementation.
