Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a Member of MMC Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) to develop human capital and for the exchange of knowledge and resources between both organisations at Port Briefing Room, Wisma PTP, Johor.


PTP was represented by Marco Neelsen, Chief Executive Officer of PTP and Jaizal Kamar Jalaluddin, Head of Human Capital Management Division of PTP whereas UTHM was represented by Prof Dr Wahid Abdul Razzaly, Vice Chancellor of UTHM and Prof Dr Ruzairi Abdul Rahim, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UTHM, Research and Innovation.


Leveraging on the unique strengths and experience of both organisations, the collaboration enables PTP and UTHM to jointly conduct mutually beneficial learning and development activities such as collaborative research in the engineering and information technology in the field of logistics and container port equipment service and maintenance operations. In return, PTP will assist UTHM in facilitating employment opportunities including industrial training opportunities, work based learning placement and support the development on training module for its graduates on port industry.


The strategic collaboration with institutions of higher learning was part of PTP’s initiatives towards enhancing the competency level and skills of its current and future employees. Apart from that, this collaboration further demonstrates PTP’s commitment to continuously looking for effective approaches to empower its workforce, especially through partnerships that support human capital development through an accelerated learning curve.
