Gas Malaysia Collaborates With Perhilitan to Protect River Terrapins
Gas Malaysia Berhad (GMB), a Member of MMC Group, successfully organised their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in collaboration with the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) in an effort to protect the critically endangered river terrapins, at the River Terrapin Conservation Centre in Bota Kanan, Perak.
The initiative, aimed at strengthening wildlife conservation programme through the management, enrichment and research activities. More than 30 participations from both organisations came to support the cause.
During the event, En Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, Chief Executive Officer of GMB presented an egg-hatching incubator to En Fakhrul Hatta Musa of PERHILITAN to support the terrapin population recovery efforts. In addition to that, GMB also contributed several water pumps and filters for the breeding pond to improve water clarity and remove suspended solids and other sediments.
The programme was organised as part pf GMB’s initiatives to fulfill its role as a responsible organisation in Wildlife and Environment. Currently GMB supplies natural gas to industrial customers and operates 112 km of natural gas distribution pipeline, serving 45 industrial customers in the state of Perak.
