Port Week 2017 – Promoting Johor as a  Distribution Hub

Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) together with Johor Port Berhad (JPB), members of MMC Group participated in Johor Port Week 2017 held at Double Tree Hotel, Johor Bahru.


The event, organised by Lembaga Pelabuhan Johor (LPJ), kicked off on 28 October 2017 with LPJ’s Treasure Hunt activity that started from the LPJ’s Headquarters and ended at AEON Jusco, Permas Jaya. A total of 48 teams from various port communities in Johor participated in the activity. The event was officially launched on 30 October 2017 and was officiated by Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman, Deputy Secretary General (Policy) of Ministry of Transport (MOT) together with Dato’ Chua Kok Ching, Deputy Secretary General (Management) of MOT and Muhammad Razif Ahmad, General Manager of Johor Port Authority. Also present during the event were Ian Brian James, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MMC Ports, Marco Neelsen, CEO of PTP and Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim CEO of JPB.


Other activities organised throughout Johor Port Week 2017 include Executive Talk, B2G Dialogue Sessions, Bunkering Forum, exhibitions and a 2-day conference entitled ‘Promoting Johor as a Distribution Hub’. A tour to PTP was also organised for port users and university students from University Malaysia Terengganu to experience the port environment.  


Johor Port Week 2017 aimed at promoting Johor ports development and supply chain initiatives as well as projecting the potential and opportunities in the Johor maritime industry received more than 1,500 attendees.  The participation of PTP and JPB at the event was part of the on-going respective companies’ stakeholder engagement initiatives to strengthen relationship between the companies and its relevant business partners including customers and government entities.
