Malakoff Organises Plogging to Clean-up

Teluk Senangin, two Tonnes of Rubbish Collected

Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), a member of MMC Group, in collaboration with Majlis Perbandaran Manjung (MPM), successfully rallied more than 300 volunteers in cleaning up the beaches of Teluk Senangin, Manjung, Perak during the “Jom Plogging Bersama Komuniti 2018” CSR programme, held on 29 September 2018. Approximately two tonnes of rubbish were collected during the programme.

Plogging, a combination between a Swedish phrase “plocka upp” which means “pick up” and the word     “jogging”, aims to increase awareness on environmental conservation, cleanliness and healthy lifestyle. It is Malakoff’s latest CSR initiative showcasing the company’s commitment to the local communities where it operates.

The participants who took part in the activity, which included Malakoff employees, school children,       representatives from local authorities and members of the local community, were seen running while picking-up litter on the 4km route along the shore as well as the villages in Teluk Senangin.

Teluk Senangin is located in the district of Manjung, Perak, where Malakoff owns and operates its      1,943 MW Lumut Power Plant.

Speaking of the event, Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali, Chief Executive Officer of Malakoff said, “We are committed to the environment especially in the areas where we operate. We hope that this event will increase the public awareness on environmental conservation, especially in Teluk Senangin and its surrounding areas.”
