Johor Port Berhad (JPB), a member of MMC Group, organised JPB Bright Tech Programme as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative to the community. The programme, aims to narrow the digital divide and provide the opportunity for digital learning amongst suburban elementary school students as well as the less fortunate local communities.

In its inaugural programme, JPB donated and installed 10 refurbished personal computers to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kongkong Laut, a rural primary school in Masai. Education-related activities were also included in the half-day programme such as IT Quiz and IT Talk on Cyber Security by En Helmi Hassan, Manager of Information and Communication Technology Department of JPB; as well as an IT Clinic where JPB employees conducted a mini workshop on basic computer skills and Microsoft Word Basic Training to Standard 5 students.

The programme were attended by En Nor Afazi Jaafar, Pasir Gudang District Education Officer, En Hafidz Samsudin, Principal of SK Kongkong Laut, and the school students.

JPB Bright Tech Programme will be continued to include more schools, in line with JPB’s continuous commitment to promote human capital development and improve the well-being of the communities by aiding the underprivileged school students with learning assistance. The programme also saw JPB’s effort in environmental protection by reducing electronic waste via computer refurbishing.
