Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATSSB), a member of MMC Group has successfully handled a total of 300,620 passengers at Senai International Airport marking another milestone, achieving the highest number of passengers handled in a single month since its inception in 1974.
The passenger traffic in the month of June 2018 rose by 15.5% compared to 260,190 passengers recorded a year ago. The growth was mainly driven by an increase in the number of passengers travelling during Hari Raya festive season. The positive increment of passenger growth was also contributed by additional flight frequencies by AirAsia to Penang from 28 times to 35 times weekly and Bangkok from 7 times to 11 times weekly as well as the introduction of daily scheduled flight by Jin Air to Seoul, South Korea.
Currently, Senai International Airport is connected to six international destinations namely Seoul, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Guangzhou, Jakarta and Surabaya, and 11 domestic destinations including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kuala Terengganu, Kuching, Miri, Sibu, Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Subang and Ipoh.
In February this year, Senai International Airport was selected as the first airport in Malaysia to use Fast Airport Clearance Experience System, uses facial recognition technology to identify enrolled guests as they approach the automated boarding gate, allowing them to board their flight without having to present any travel documents.
