Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, welcomed a group of undergraduate students from University of Maryland on their global immersion course to Malaysia and Singapore.
50 students from Robert H. Smith School of Business were given an in-depth presentation on port’s operation by Joe Schofield, Chief Operating Officer of PTP. This was followed by an insightful question and answer session by PTP’s management team from Operations, Corporate and Commercial Division. The students were then taken for a quick tour at the Marine Control Centre and other port’s facilities.
As Malaysia’s largest container terminal with a strong reputation for consistently delivering reliable, efficient and highly advanced services to major shipping lines, PTP was selected as one of the locations in the global immersion course as it allows the students to gain better understanding on how a port operates and how it effectively competes in the global marketplace.
PTP has been receiving visits from local and international education institutions as part of their corporate social responsibility programme aiming at knowledge sharing as well to cultivate interest towards port industry among potential future employees of PTP.
