Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the first edition of The Hub 2020.
The first quarter of 2020 is a tumbling situation for not only members of MMC Group but also the nation. Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, without compromising the health and safety of the employees, members of MMC Group have successfully completed 13 corporate events, 12 stakeholder engagements and 10 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that makes up total of 35 corporate activities across the Group.
One of the significant highlights was when Penang Port Sdn Bhd (Penang Port) launched the upgrading project of its Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (SPCT) on 1 February 2020. Officiated by YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yow, Chief Minister of Penang, this upgrading work will enable SPCT to accommodate 12,000 cruise passengers compared to 8,000 passengers currently. Apart from that, Penang Port and Johor Port Berhad respectively received four units of new Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes at their ports to boost the operations capacity and productivity as well to minimise repair and maintenance cost.
In this issue, we would like to highlight that MMC Group and its operating companies have played an active role to support the country with our CSR initiatives during the Covid-19 crisis. Apart from the contribution of RM1 million to the Covid-19 fund that was launched by our YAB Prime Minister, MMC Group has also organised various contributions of essential items and medical appliances to ease the burden of the frontliners in the hospitals who are battling against Covid-19.
We would also like to thank our own frontliners in ports and logistics, energy and utilities and airport businesses who are working during this Movement Control Order to ensure the essential services in this country are not disrupted. You are already part of history as Malaysian heroes and heroines.
