MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC Group), contributed RM1 million to the Covid-19 fund launched by YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Prime Minister of Malaysia in a ceremony held at Perdana Putra, Putrajaya. The Covid-19 fund was launched on 11 March 2020 as part of Government’s effort to help Malaysians affected by Covid-19. The cheque replica of the donation was presented to YAB Prime Minister by YBhg Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC.
MMC Group also organised a contribution of essential items to ease the burden of the frontliners in the hospitals who are fighting Covid-19 as the numbers of cases are currently increasing in this country. The frontliners are our brave heroes carrying out responsibilities with full dedication working round the clock during this Covid-19 crisis.
A total of 6,000 bottles of mineral water and 900 packs of biscuits were distributed in the Central Region to support the frontliners manned by doctors, nurses as well as cleaners at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Selayang.
At the Southern Region, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd, Johor Port Berhad, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd and Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd also joined hands by contributing medical appliances and other supplies to the Covid-19 designated treatment hospitals in Johor. Surgical face masks, hand sanitisers, gloves, mineral water and packs of biscuits were distributed to the medical frontliners of Hospital Permai in Johor Bahru while Hospital Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Kluang received medical appliances such as infusion pump and syringe pump which are essential in treating the patients of Covid-19. In Malacca, Tanjung Bruas Port Sdn Bhd also took part in distributing bottles of mineral water and biscuits to the health workers at Hospital Melaka.
Up in the Northern Region, Penang Port Sdn Bhd distributed ‘Penang Port Care Package’ containing basic necessities such as rice, sugar, canned food, milk, body wash and detergent to 100 health workers of Hospital Pulau Pinang to help them to provide daily necessities for their families at home despite of the long working hours.
Following to the initiatives, YBhg Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh said, “At this crucial moment, we will continue to support all efforts taken by the Government to contain this pandemic. We also appreciate the dedication and sacrifices of the nation’s frontliners who are working tirelessly to fight against Covid-19 and in helping to keep us safe during this challenging time.”
