MMC Engineering Sdn Bhd, a member of MMC Group, has emerged as a winner in the Notable Achievement in Environmental Performance in the Prime Minister Hibiscus Award (PMHA) 2019/2020. The honorable award was bestowed through Langat Centralised Sewage Treatment Plant (Langat CSTP) project via its engaging contribution in the green technology elements which is in line with the PMHA’s commitment to reduce the environmental impact of organisations, project operations and activities.

The award was organised by the Environment Management and Research Association of Malaysia, Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers and Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (MICCI).

The prestigious award was presented by Shaun Edward Cheah, Executive Director of MICCI to Mohd Razin Ghazali, Chief Operating Officer Technical and Engineering of MMC Corporation Berhad and Mohd Abdul Fatah Endut, Chief Executive Officer of MMC Engineering Sdn Bhd and Project Director of MMC Pembetungan Langat Sdn Bhd.

Unlike the conventional open pond system, the Langat CSTP is designed in a semi-sunken and enclosed premise with the latest built-in green technology initiatives including the installation of 635 units of solar photovoltaic system, rainwater harvesting system, three biogas engines and re-used effluent water which promote less dependency on fossil fuel, lower maintenance cost as well as reduce carbon footprints in the long run.
