Northport Supports Shippers Organisations Through Participation at the Asian Shippers Forum 2019

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, participated in the Asian Shippers Forum hosted by the Malaysia National Shippers' Council (MNSC). The forum, which was held in conjunction with the Asian Shippers Alliance (ASA) Annual Meeting at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral Hotel, was attended by a total of 150 participants from various member countries including Indonesia, Macau, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Europe and Malaysia. ASA is also a member of the Global Shippers Alliance (GSA) which comprise of the European Shippers' Council (ESC), the American Association of Exporters and Importers (AAEI) and ASA.


Among the attendees at the forum were Tan Sri Dato’ Soh Thian Lai, President of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), Toto Dirgantoro, Chairman of ASA and Dato’ Dr Ir Andy Seo, Chairman of MNSC.


Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport was invited as one of the speakers at a forum with a topic titled “Halal Silk Route - Making Port Klang the Gateway to Halal Trade”. On the following day, the delegates were brought around the terminal for a tour of Northport to provide them with an in-depth experience of the port’s operations and facilities.


The Asian Shippers Forum is a platform for shippers' organisations from around the world, Malaysian trade professionals and policymakers to come together for a better understanding of commerce in the shifting world of international trade for the common purpose of facilitating the movement of goods efficiently and securely.


This forum is undoubtedly facilitated the national agenda of positioning Malaysia as both a trade and investments destination to the international community. Northport’s participation at the forum demonstrated its commitment and support towards the shippers community, who plays a vital role in the world trade and the global economy.
