Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, organised a Commuting Safety Support Programme (CSSP) for its employees. The programme was jointly organised by the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO) and the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) in conjunction with the MMC Group HSE Day 2019.

The programme consisted of three phases with the aim to cultivate and increase the level of awareness on commuting safety management among Northport employees. On 23 October 2019, the first phase of the programme called ‘train the trainer’ was held where eight selected employees were trained with the right procedures under the commuting safety module. The second phase continued the following day with the ‘intervention programme’ where the selected groups of employees demonstrated the right techniques for motorcyclists.

The third phase is the evaluation phase which will be conducted after three months and commuting accident trend will be assessed. Apart from this CSSP, there were also other activities organised during the two-day event which included free health screening by Sri Kota Medical Centre and also exhibition by BookDoc, MIROS and PERKESO.

With the execution of this programme, Northport sealed its commitment to enhance the health and safety standard, in line with the Company’s journey to embrace the culture of health and safety among members of TeamNorthport.
