Digitalisation – Johor Port Week 2019

MMC Port Holdings Sdn Bhd (MMC Ports), a member of MMC Group, participated in Johor Port Week 2019 organised by Johor Port Authority (JPA), Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP) and Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port) to promote Malaysia’s Southern Gateway as a premier maritime and trade hub of the region.


With the theme “Fostering the Wave of Digitalisation in Logistics and Port Industry”, various activities were held during the event such as a two-day conference focusing on digitisation, digitalisation, automation and industry sustainability, executive talk, Business to Government Dialogue session, exhibition, treasure hunt and many more.


The programme was officiated by YB Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport at Double Tree (Hilton) Hotel Johor Bahru with the presence of YB Mohd Solihan Badri, Chairman of Johor State Public Works, Infrastructure & Transportation Committee, Tuan Haji Rosnan Fathlal, Chairman of JPA, Datuk Jana Santhiran Muniayan, Board member of JPA and its management team.


MMC Ports was represented by Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad, Datuk Ian Brian James, Group Chief Executive Officer of MMC Ports, Dato' Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, Marco Neelsen, CEO of PTP, Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim, CEO of Johor Port as well as the senior management team.


Marco Neelsen, CEO of PTP was also invited to be one of the speakers in a conference session to discuss on “Port Automation Plan” while Dr. Nazry Yahaya, Assistant General Manager of Johor Port Skills Centre was invited as a moderator to discuss on “Modernisation in Halal Logistics”.  


Apart from that, 300 visitors consist of port users, school and university students participated in a port tour at PTP and Johor Port to have better understanding on port operation. Another exciting activity held was Ports of Johor Treasure Hunt that was flagged of at Johor Port by Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim, CEO of Johor Port. A total of 36 teams from various port communities participated in the treasure hunt to solve clues related to the port industry in an attempt to win cash prizes.

   

Johor Port Week 2019 has gathered more than 1,000 visitors throughout the six-day programme. The involvement of MMC Ports during the Johor Port Week 2019 was part of their on-going stakeholders’ engagement initiative to strengthen relationship with customers, port community and government entities.
