MMC Port Holdings Sdn Bhd (MMC Ports), a member of MMC Group, together with Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB) organised a briefing session on Biodiesel (B7) technical characteristics and commercial outlook at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
The session was participated by employees of MMC Ports including Nothport (Malaysia) Bhd, Johor Port Berhad, Penang Port Sdn Bhd and Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdb Bhd. Also presence was Dr. Sang Yew Ngin, Undersecretary of Biofuel Division for the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) and Dr. Harrison Lau Lik Nang, Principal Research Officer and Leader of Biodiesel Technology of the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).
Participants were briefed on the introduction of Biodiesel B7 in Malaysia by Faisal Md Atar, Head of PDB Regional Sales. Various topics related to the advantage and side effect of B7 implementation were discussed during the session. Other than that, an interaction with MPI and MPOB has set the ports to implement a definite action plan for the consumption of Biodiesel.
This event was put to bring clarity to the Ports about the characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of the Biodiesel B7 implementations mandate for the industry in 2019 by the Malaysia government.
