Gas Malaysia Berhad’s Back to School Programme for Underprivileged School Children

On 29 November 2019, Gas Malaysia Berhad (Gas Malaysia), a member of MMC Group, organised a “Back to School” programme to provide school necessities for 150 underprivileged school children from Rumah Anak-Anak Yatim Baitul Lathofah in Rawang.

This community outreach programme is an initiative by Gas Malaysia aimed at providing underprivileged children with school necessities such as school uniforms, shoes and stationeries for the 2020 school term.

The event was officiated by Ahmad Hashimi Abdul Manap, Chief Executive Officer of Gas Malaysia and attended by the members of senior management team.

Ahmad Hashimi commented, “We believe that in order for our business to be sustainable, we should balance our business ambitions with corporate social responsibility initiatives. In fact, education is one of our four CSR pillars. We will continuously explore potential initiatives to contribute towards healthy intellectual growth.”

In addition to the said initiative, 20 employees from Gas Malaysia participated in a gotong-royong session to clean the orphanage with the assistance of four caretakers. Ahmad Hashimi also planted a sapling at the orphanage as a symbol of officiating the programme.
