Northport Continues to Raise Environmental Awareness Through 3R Programme

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group organised a 3R Programme (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) called “Ayuh Kitar Semula (AKS) 4.0”. The fourth series of Northport’s environmental care programme received an overwhelming response from its employees as almost 38 tonnes of recyclable items were collected throughout the programme, the highest collection so far. This initiative was held in collaboration with DRB-HICOM Environmental Services Sdn Bhd, a fully owned subsidiary of Alam Flora Sdn Bhd under the DRB-HICOM Berhad Group.

The objective of this programme is to educate and create environmental awareness among Northport employees. They participated by collecting recyclable items such as paper products, plastics, electrical goods, aluminum and used cooking oil. To promote healthy competition among Divisions and Departments within the company, Northport recognised the programme’s highest contributors with a Challenge Trophy and other prizes.

Northport’s Container Division emerged as this series highest contributor with a total collection of 14.30 tonnes of recyclables. Meanwhile, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of Northport once again for two consecutive years won the individual category with 305 kg of recyclables.

Through all four series of AKS, TeamNorthport has shown great commitment in supporting the company’s environmental care program, as evidenced by an increasing trend of recyclable items collected in every campaign.
