MMC Group Supports Youth Hockey Development Through 9th Sultan of Johor Cup 2019

MMC Group southern based operating companies Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), Johor Port Berhad (JPB), Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (Senai International Airport) and Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd (SAC) had co-jointly sponsored one of the most sought after hockey tournament in the world, the 9th Sultan of Johor Cup 2019.

The sponsor cheque was handed over by En Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim, CEO of JPB representing the MMC Group Companies to Ybhg Datuk Dennis Muhammad Abdullah in the presence of YAB Dato' Dr. Sahruddin bin Jamal, Chief Minister of Johor on the 13 September 2019, showing the group support to the youth hockey development via international tournament.

The tournament which serves as a perfect avenue for countries to groom young talents in the hockey arena was held at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium from 12 – 19 October 2019 with participation by junior hockey team under-21 from Great Britain, India, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and host Malaysia. Great Britain was named champion after winning against India in the final match with a scoring of 2-1 while Malaysia settled at third place in the overall tournament.

The participation of MMC Group Companies in the tournament was part of the Group’s incessant effort to raise brand awareness and as a stakeholders engagement initiative to fortify relationship between the Group and its significant business associates including the government entities and the public.
