Malakoff Corporation Berhad ("Malakoff") organized a two-day motivational camp filled with fun and educational activities at Outward Bound Malaysia in Lumut, Perak, on January 23rd and 24th, 2024. Attended by 70 students and 21 dedicated teachers from 3 Malakoff-sponsored primary schools in Lumut, Perak, the program aimed to instill academic awareness and responsibility among students while fostering self-discipline and personal development.
The participating schools were SK Segari, SJKC Pei Min and SJKT Ladang Huntly.
Various activities have been implemented including 'wall-climbing', which gives students a challenging experience that involves communication, cooperation, as well as being able to overcome their fears. In addition, a mentally and physically challenging activity - 'Night Walk' - allows participants to use maps in a practical way while fostering leadership, analytical thinking and compassion for others.
The camp then continued with a closing ceremony to celebrate the dedication and efforts of the participants. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Lumut Power Plant Manager Mr. Anwar Faisal Mohamed Din, Deputy Education Officer for District 2 Manjung, Mr. Rosman Yaakob, Malakoff Senior Manager of Group Communications & Branding Mr. Yuha Ismail, Outward Bound Malaysia Executive Director First Admiral Dato' Ismail Abdullah (B), Headmaster of SK Segari Mr. Haris Haji Husin, Headmaster of SJK C Pei Min Ms. Gan Ai Kim, Headmaster of SJK T Ladang Huntly Ms. Vimalambikai A/P Krishnan, President ("YDP") of the Parents and Teachers Association ("PIBG") SK Segari Mr. Zamri Bin Ibrahim, YDP PIBG SJK C Pei Min Mr. Ngoh Keh Heng and YDP PIBG SJK T Huntly Farm Mr. Gunachdren A/L Krishnan.
This initiative is part of Malakoff's Corporate Social Responsibility ("CSR") initiatives, focusing on the Community pillar which aligns with Malakoff's tagline, 'Enhancing Life, Enriching Communities'. Besides enhancing a close working relationship with various stakeholders and the local communities, we hope that initiatives like these will further cultivate the spirit of 'giving back to the community' while fostering a stronger bond between one another. It is also in line with UN SDG Goal No.8 which promotes inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
