Malakoff Corporation Berhad (Malakoff), a member of MMC Group, organised a 'Jom Ke Sekolah Bersama Mukim Serkat' programme at Masjid Al-Amin Kampung Sungai Dinar, Mukim Serkat in Pontian, Johor. Officiated by YB Datuk Haji Jefridin Atan, ADUN of Kukup, the event was also attended by Roslan Bokari, Senior Head of the District Office Pontian, Nor Hazam Md Jaiz, Village Chief of Mukim Serkat and Saiful Azlan Mahmud, Plant Manager of Tanjung Bin Power Plant, other village chiefs of Mukim Serkat, headmasters and headmistresses of Malakoff's foster schools in Mukim Serkat, as well as parents and students.
Through this programme, Malakoff provided school items for 181 Standard 1 students such as school uniforms, stationeries, school shoes, school bags and many more school items to ensure that they are well-equipped with everything they need before the start of the new school year.
The event proceeded with a launch gimmick by YB Datuk Haji Jefridin, symbolising the contribution from Malakoff to the schools before proceeding with a group photo opportunity. To conclude the event, a teatime spread was prepared with a variety of local delicacies for everyone to enjoy.
This initiative is part of Malakoff's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, focusing on the Community pillar which aligns with Malakoff's tagline, 'Enhancing Life, Enriching Communities'. Besides enhancing a close working relationship with various stakeholders and the local communities, this initiative will further cultivate the spirit of 'giving back to the community' while fostering a stronger bond between one another. It is also in line with United Nations Sustainability Development Goal No. 8 which promotes inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
