MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC Group) organised an educational visit for engineering students of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to the Gardenia’s factory in Shah Alam.  Gardenia Malaysia is the largest and fastest bakery line in Southeast Asia.

A total of 66 participants consist of students from Department of Process and Food Engineering UPM and our volunteers participated in the educational visit. The programme began with Gardenia’s corporate video presentation that highlighted on its history, manufacturing processes and distribution of Gardenia products. The participants were then taken for a tour inside the factory to see the massive state-of-the-art production line that has the capacity to produce 10,000 loaves of bread per hour.

Gardenia has a total of five factories in Shah Alam. With five factories combined, Gardenia is able to produce more than 900,000 fresh loaves daily for distribution to more than 22,000 outlets throughout Peninsular Malaysia.

Other than reaching the community with corporate social responsibility programmes, this educational visit was one of MMC Group’s efforts to connect with university students in an informal environment and enrich their learning experiences by getting involved outside the lecture hall.
