Johor Port Welcomes its Largest Container Vessel Ever

Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, welcomed MSC Apollo as the largest container ship ever calls at the Johor Port Container Terminal (JCT). With 300-metre length of overall and 5,000 Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) cargo capacity, the vessel came alongside the terminal with an exchange of 1,000 move counts of empty discharge.


JCT is designed to handle up to 1.2 million TEUs annually. The 700-metre berth terminal has eight quay cranes, 26 rubber-tyred gantry cranes, six stackers and 52 prime movers. With this setup, JCT is able to accommodate up to three vessels at a time with a maximum water depth of 13.5-metre. Apart of that, the terminal also equipped with 250,000 square metres of Container Yard and 11,000 square metres of Container Freight Station facilities. The web based JCT System also supports port activities. This integrated system allows the facilitation of real-time and paperless transactions to ensure efficiency in the operations.


Being the Premier Southern Gateway Multi-Purpose Port in Malaysia, Johor Port is committed to continuously upgrade its facilities for the benefit of its customers and stakeholders.


As the business continues to grow, the facilities at JCT is further enhanced with the scheduled replacement of a new Quay Crane to strengthen its capability and capacity for the next few years. Johor Port is optimistic that the investments will create more opportunities and better service offerings to its clients and partners as a whole.
