Aliran Utara Sdn Bhd (AUSB) subsidiary of Aliran Ihsan Resources Berhad (AIR Berhad), a member of MMC Group, was awarded a Grade ‘A’ by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) for the Kampung Senawar Water Treatment Plant (WTP) on 4 April 2019 in Kuala Kangsar, Perak. This independent grading system by SPAN recognises Kampung Senawar WTP’s effective upkeep of the plant, good safety practices implementation and best in class water quality production that meet Ministry of Health and international standards.

The award presentation ceremony was held at Kampung Senawar WTP and attended by Mohd Rafie Othman, Northern Regional Director of SPAN; Shamsul Kamar Taharin, Northern Section Regional Manager of Lembaga Air Perak (LAP); Paramaswaran Ramasamy, AUSB General Manager; and officials from SPAN, LAP and AUSB.

SPAN has developed their own audit criteria and checklist for the water treatment plant grading system which has been implemented since 2017. The commission has audited all water treatment plants in Malaysia and successfully selected three plants for the Grade A awards, located in Perak, Selangor and Perlis. Kampung Senawar WTP was conferred the Grade A award, which marks excellence in achievement (95-100% scoring) in overall plant cleanliness, good safety management practices and compliance to MOH drinking water quality index.
